Your Myerchin Rigging Knife Warranty

Your Myerchin knife is a precision tool. Like all precision tools, the manufacturing tolerances are very close; hence the clean open and ‘snap’ when the components are opened and locked. We continuously utilise our extensive marine experience in the manufacturing process constantly updating our techniques and materials as warranted by advances in the field. We make your knife to function as well as possible in a harsh marine environment.

It is imperative that the owner respects the integrity of the tool and treats it accordingly. After use near salt water, rinse the entire knife in fresh water and apply a few drops of oil to the two hinge pins. Make sure the mechanism is reasonably free of dirt and debris. You may be surprised to hear that some corrosion may appear, while it is possible to manufacture a “rust proof” knife… the resulting product performs very poorly (losing its cutting edge quickly). The Pro-grade German Marine stainless that we use is comparable to ’440C’ for hardness and edge-holding properties with additional anti-oxidation elements added for the final crafting of our knives.

Our “Conditional Lifetime Warranty” is as follows:

If your Myerchin knife fails during reasonable use due to a manufacturing error or unseen defect, return it to us immediately for replacement or repair. Of course this does not apply if the knife has been abused or used in an improper manner. Note that a well-used, well-cared for knife is always covered for the lifetime of the original owner. Myerchin will make the final decision on whether a knife has been abused or not.

  1. The Warranty applies only to the original purchaser of the knife.
  2. Contact us (+44 1305 302304 / [email protected]) prior to returning the knife (quoting the model and serial number) to make the necessary arrangements and confirm the validity of the return.
  3.  A payment of £10.88 to cover shipping (an adult signature service is required) and handling will be required prior to dispatch of the repaired/replaced knife.
  4. Return to:  Myerchin UK, 1 Old Lambing Shed, Ilsington Farm, Tincleton, Dorchester, Dorset, DT2 8QW, U.K.

Examples of what IS covered by this warranty:

  • A knife where the back spring has fatigued and the blade/spike no longer lock.
  • A defect in the metal casting resulting in a weak spot.
  • A new knife with obvious manufacturing defects, e.g., cracked G10, wood, etc.

Examples of what IS NOT covered by this warranty:

  • An abused knife where the blade or spike has been used as a pry bar.
  • An abused knife that has been left in a bilge or rusty tool box and is frozen with dirt and oxidation. – Obvious neglect.

What can you do if your knife has been neglected and the mechanism is frozen?

We suggest that you spray the knife liberally with WD-40 (or similar), place it in a zip lock bag and leave it for a week or so. Usually this will allow the oil to penetrate the mechanism so you can open the knife and carefully clean it. Most rust is surface (cosmetic) and simply needs to be loosened and cleaned.

Returns

We want you to be completely happy with your purchase from Myerchin UK, if, for any reason you are not, please contact us within 14 days of receipt to arrange return of the items for a full no-quibble refund.

Knife Policy – Under 18’s will NOT be served.

Please note in accordance with The criminal Justice Act 1988, as amended by the Offensive Weapons Act 1996 and the Violent Crime Reduction Act 2006 it is an offence to supply a knife to persons under the age of 18. We take our responsibilities in this matter very seriously.

In order to ensure that the purchaser is over 18 checks will be made to verify the age of an individual purchasing a knife. These can normally be carried out without the need to contact the individual but where this is not possible the individual may be contacted and asked to provide proof of age related to the delivery address.

In the event of an individual under the age of 18 attempting to purchase a knife from us, you may lose your entire purchase price, or a £5 administration fee will be charged.

By completing the checkout transaction a purchaser agrees that this deduction will be taken prior to any refund given. In addition information on the attempted transaction may be shared with the Police.
